Stuart Hygarths- Man made Pollution
|
Stuart Hygraths photos are contemporary. He has colour themes of his objects and they are nealy aranged . To simplify his images flash in a plain white bakcground. He does this by taking photos of objects he finds around him such as a giant lego head. He wants us to consider the amount of pollution in the world today.
Staurt Hygath is sending out a strong message about the large amount of plastic that is polluting the world. He collected man made objects on his five hundred walk on the english coastline. As you can see he colour cordinates them and arranges them symmetricaly. Similar to Hygarths work i found man made objects around the house that i used for my images. These are colour coridnatied. In particular the photogrpah with the football merchandise is my favourite as it represents me as a person about how passionate i am for football. I used flash and layed it down flat imating his work. WWW: i thought my angles of the photogrpahs were very good. EBI: the images are slightly yelow becuase of artifical therfore i would change my white balacne to nuetrilise the tone. |
Jan Groover- dirty dishes
|
Jan Groover creates a surreal type of image she does this by taking photos of objects that are normally very small close up making the person looking at her work feel really small in comparison to the objects in his work. He wants us to consider that however simple something is it still has a massive impact in the world.
She wasn't addressing wider issues in her photographs. Her husband may have suggested she portrait her domestic life through her photographs for example showing kitchen utensils as one picture. Jan Groover has used artificial lighting in creating her work. This can create many different types of light to please her and make her picture look better. Also she organised her domestic items into different patterns and shapes making them pleasing to the eye. |
Andre Kertesz- shadows
The task I had to do was to replicate Andres Kertsevs work. Andre Kertseve was born in Hungary. In 1905 he moved to France where he took the photographs of the fork, the piece of work I am replicating. His work was influenced by how dark and evil society can become. This was because he lived through both World Wars. He uses a dark room to change the shadow and make the tone of the picture mysterious and eerie, recreating how evil society can be.
WWW I made good shadows.
EBI I could of made the photos darker

Robert Holden-burning house project
|
I replicated Robert Holden's burning house project. I used certain objects in my room which had sentimental value to me. I used different shades of colour so that the colours of the object would stand out. I also took them from different angles. to capture the different shapes of the objects. WWW i used good editing to make my objects to stand out against the orange back ground EBI: use various differnt coloured objects. |
Luke stevenson- 7122 cornflakes
The task i did was to find out all the different shapes and sizes of crisp's inside of a crisp packet. Luke Stevenson liked to photograph things that intrigued him and that was how he decided to take the photo of 7221 cornflakes. I took close up photos whit my camera in the same place to create a toppling effect to make my gif look better.
WWW: all the crips had different unusal shapes
EBI: put them all in the right place.

Edward Weston-ordinary to extraodinary

I positioned the coconut on varies different positions on the black card. I captured many different faces of the coconut. I tried to capture the skin of the coconut because I believed it gave a nice texture to the photo. I also used artificial lighting from the lights in my room, i placed the coccontu in the middle of the photogrpah so it could be the main focus of the photograph i shined the light directalty towards the coconut to make it illumate againt the dark backgroud.
WWW: I captured the coconut really well. EBI: i could position the coconut in different areas of the photograph |
David Hockney-Photojoiner
David Hockney is connected to the PIAV art movement .This movement is responding to culture and poverty.Hockney created many different ranges of photographs from many different angles.
Lauren merek reflect a person
In this series of work we will be studying different photographers.as well as how their work and how it reflects a person and their emotions and what they have been feeling at the time that photo was taken. For example we will be learning about Lauren Mareck who creates similar pieces of work to Chad Pitmen. They both show of different parts of the body in unique ways. they do this by breaking away part of the photos they too and focusing on one part of the body. I learnt how to crop photos as well as changing the light to make all parts of her body similar therefore they have a bigger impact on the person who saw the photo.
Jessie Draxler
The photographer Jessie draxler use plain backgrounds therefore the person looking at the photographs . Jesse Draxler is an American artist, born in 1981 in Wisconsin. He lives and works in Los Angeles. He obtained his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the College of Visual Arts in St. The artist has a mixed approach: he does collages, but also texts or animated portraits in GIF. Jessie Draxler makes abstract photos from a human. As well as showing the distorded human reality of thier body especially thier head.
Steven Purnell
Distortion was made by multiple different artists however one stood out to me was Steven Purnell. It is inspired by Op art a movement. movement of visual art that makes use of optical illusions. Major exponents of this type of art were Victor Vasarely and Bridget Riley they link because they show how the image is disturbed as well as the shadow. I like them because it shows what distorted images should look like and how if you look at something for a long time it can be revolutionary and show a different aspect to the photograph, mirroring the change of society. I shall be printing of a piece of striped paper and take a photo in format of the glass to create different patterns and how they change .

The Serpentine presents a major survey of British-Ghanaian photographer James Barnor, who took photogrpahs sixty years on two continants. He was a studio portraitist, photojournalist and Black lifestyle photographer who records major social and political changes in London and Accra.
Born in 1929 in Ghana, James Barnor took many photographs a nation about to gain independence, shown by conversation and music. In 1959 he arrived in London, furthering his studies and continuing working for influential South African magazine Drum which mirrored the emotion in the era and the experiences of London which were hiding the Africans' culture and how influential they were . He returned to Ghana in the early 1970s to make the country’s first colour processing office, while continuing his work as a portrait photographer.
I chose the first one becuase it shows part of a woman's everyday life and gives us a feeling of what they wore and their role in society.
I chose the second one becuase I love boxing and do it weekly . I thought it was very intresting to see inside the dressing room and to see Muhamad Alli as a young man.
I chose the third one, becuase I thought it was very intresting how old the town looked and to get a glimps of how society operated.
I learnt the effect of black and white photogrpahs as well as coloured phototgraphs and how in different ways they express emotions and really give you a feel for the world and how the people are feeling.
