Jr: Portrait of a generation 2004-2006
In 2005 there were riots in suburubs in Paris when two teens were killed in an attempt to run away from the police this caused outrage and many people rioted this lead to the media and government portraying them in an unfair manor. Jr Chronicles took photographs of young people who were targeted by the media/goverment. He took close up pictures of them pulling weird and funny faces and posted them around Paris to show that they were portryed in an unfair manor. His work is bold and contains a strong message that everyone has emotions and that they diserves equal opportunites to be seen. His work has tuaght me to not judge a book by its cover and to give everyone an opportunity to be heard.

Gordon Magnin-Geomtric portraits
Gordan Magnin takes portriats of people and uses geomtric shapes to create paterns on their portriats. Out of the three portaits above i particularly like the patterns of the triangle becuase of it reminds me of my childhood toy the Kaleidoscope.

I took a range of portraits of my model and directed her to show and express different emotions. I varied the shots by changing directions because in some photographs she is facing the light and some she is facing away.
|
With my chosen images I converted them into black and white in photoshop. To create the geometric pattern I created different shapes on my model's face and then I rotated them to distort the image, I repeated this process by reducing the particular shape size and changing the rotation direction each time. In particular I like the geometric pattern created by the geometric circles because it looks more mysterious.
WWW: The photographs had a very good lighting and i like the framing that i used of the model. EBI: I could have created and experiment with more layers and geometric patterns. |

It gives the viewer a different perspective of people and society by configuring peoples face. She does this by consorting their faces and changing there faces by editing her photos in a different way that attracts the younger audience such as myself.
The thing that interests me with the photographs is the shapes she uses on there faces and the layering intrested me.

In this photograph I cut out the background of the photograph this was to make the center or the main part of the photograph to make it stand out. This is by using a selection tool this is when I cut it out and then select delete the background and then it fills in white to make the main part of the photo stand out.
WWW I like the black and white images of the school buildings against the white background as it gives it a contemporary and a clean finish EBI could have varied my shots of the buildings and edited out the wires so it was less distracting |
Mauren Brodbeck
|
Mauren Brodbeck Is a photographer who cuts out the house which an be a forgettable building or a derelict one. They cut this out and replace it with neon colours such as green yellow orange. She wants us to consider the change about building can have and the feet on a community.
Mauren Brodbeck is thinking about the bigger issue of the community and the effect that building have on certain communities and settings in certain communities and the effect it will have when they shut down or they are forgotten and become derelict. This is shown by multiple pieces of her work which are all styled in the same or similar ways. Mauren Brodbeck uses digital manipulation techniques this is to change then setting and outlook on the picture and change the viewers perspective. This creates a puzzling and surprising as well as vibrant effect on his photographs to capture the viewer. This helps support his view on how important buildings are on the community. |
When I edited the photograph I outlined the part of the photograph that in wanted to cut out with a tool and then I selected inverse so it would cut out and then I coloured in the void bit of the picture with the colour of my choice which was neon green and coloured it in so it looked like I replaced the house.
However i repeated the process of colouring the buildings as I wasn't happy with the first attempt. It was tricky using lasso tool on photoshop but the more i repeated the better i got.

Thomas Kellner
Thomas Kelner is 55 years old he creates a fantastical picture where he takes small snap shots of different land marks to put them together to amaze the reader and shock them. He wants us to consider the bigger picture and the beauty and mysteriousness of these main land marks.
The bigger issue he is trying to make us understand is how everything looks beautiful no matter the angle and how the building looks and how it is portrayed, this is shown by the use of cubism and how he distorts his images. Thomas Kelner though it was important in today's society because of how judgmental people can be in today society.
Thomas Kelner uses the work of colleague origami to piece together different landscapes and landmarks to make them look obscure and surprising. This helps support the photographs vision of how everyone should be treated fairly.

I layered an image of my cinema which was taken recently with a backgrounded and then I manipulate the photograph by making layers and then rotating them while keeping the original background then same. Then I choose which boxes I would like to keep and then made copy of the original background and repeated the steps multiple times until the the image looked puzzling and bizarre

Stephan Gill
|
The photographer Stephan Gill creates a surreal picture he does this by taking photographs of nature and putting objects that we would not see in that setting over them making them look surreal and interesting. He is trying to make us consider that not every photograph is picture perfect with every thing in the correct position and promotes change.
Stephan gill is trying to portray to the viewer that everyone should expect the unexpected and live in the moment no matter what this is because he believes life should be savored and that the everything is a blessing in disguise. This is shown by the unusual object that he put over his photograph showing the unexpected in a changed in environment. Stephan Gill thought this was relevant because of the earth and society was constantly changing. Stephan Gill has used multiple different photographer manipulation techniques. this creates a surreal effect onto his picture as well as making them stand out because of how interesting and peculiar they are. this helps Stephan Gills theory of how we should expect the unexpected ands roll with the punches and keep striving because the world is great and peculiar. |
Tom Hunter
|
Tom Hunter creates an objective type of photograph. he does this by recreating painting by taking modern day photographs of them with little or no emotion just depicting a scene in every day life. He wants us to consider how important art is in todays society and how it can depict anything and everything at any time as well as photography can mirror that and is very important in todays society.
Tom Hunter wants the viewer to consider how important home life is and how it influences every day life and who everyone no matter who they are still have a home life. This is shown by most of his photographs being in a house or being with family members or making food like doing a domestic chore. However he also shows a cold atmosphere to a home life and how endangering it could be for example like neglect in the photo on the right where she should be caring for her child however she is reading something. Tom Hunter viewed this as important because people are staying at home more and becoming closer with their families however also leading to an increase in domestic abuse. Tom Hunter uses digital manipulation techniques this is to show different lightings and different atmospheres inside the photograph. this help creates a certain atmosphere in the photographs making them seem like something that happens everyday in a household. This helps support Tom Hunter theory of hwo important families are and how they can affect everyone's life. |

kehinde Whiley creates a surreal painting. He does this by recreating important and significant painting and making the main character someone of African ethnicity . He wants us to consider how we need to stamp out racism and treat everyone with respect and give them the same opportunity's no matter where they come from or their background.
Kehinde Whiley is considering the bigger picture of racism in society and how we need to get rid of it and to start seeing diversity in art and art models this is because it is very rarely that we see someone from African race as the main photographer. This shown by the way his paintings are made and how it is a copy of old important painting with only the change with vibrant patterns in the background as well as his modals are people of African race to show how they are the same and this makes a statement. This Paintings though this was relevant to us in society today due to the increase in police brutality's towards people of African race and the hate crimes and the racism directed to them after major sporting events and in sports and the entire world in general. Kehinde WIlley has used multiple different manipulation techniques this is to make his pictures stand out and make them more realistic. This creates a vibrant effect on his picture and making them eye catching. |

As well as using a white background this was to make the colours of the objects really stand out. i also showed in my photographs the objects inside the package and the amount outside the package.
